There are 84 majors offered at Indiana Wesleyan University. Many students come into college undecided about their majors, and what their life calling is. For most students there are multiple major changes, and times of clarity that point them in the direction they should go at this point in their lives. One major of 84 was a perfect fit, a place where a passion and a career meshed for a Indiana Wesleyan University Senior.
Karli Yates is a senior Graphic Design student at IWU and for her the Graphic Design department has collided with her passions and made something beautiful.

Throughout the past 4 years Karli has built up quite the portfolio, and really created a niche for her designs and work. She has done it all, but as she stated she has especially enjoyed her work for McConn Coffee Company and other fashion industries. If I learned anything about design from Karli, it is that it takes time, and can be done anywhere. From her favorite coffee shop to her home in the Lodges, Karli puts in countless hours to provide quality designs and work for her professors and customers.
Creation and the Creator
One of Karli’s most recent projects was for the McConn Coffee Company. Her designs were used on McConn’s seasonal apparel and their newest addition of stoneware mugs. In her interview Karli told me that working for McConn on this project showed her that she could really be a Graphic Designer. This was not only a milestone for Karli the designer, it also had a great impact on the other students at IWU and helped to increase community and especially the community surrounding McConn.
